Ordinarily it takes me one to two days of shooting to compile my 5 posts for a week. But going through my photos after four days of shooting NYFW, I figure I have at least 13 weeks worth of posts! And good posts too, full of models, fashion editors, and style icons, and amazing clothes besides. You'll be seeing plenty more of them. Of course, I will intersperse these with Philly street style, interviews, and other kinds of content so that you (or is it I?) don't get bored. But boy, would it ever be easy to be lazy about my shooting schedule for a while! I asked Phil Oh of Street Peeper the other day if he still shoots straight up, old fashioned street style in addition to fashion weeks. "Not really," he told me. "It takes too long." And it's true. On an average day in Center City it takes me roughly one hour to find a model for my blog. Adam Katz Sinding of Le 21eme told me that it used to take him a month to find ten models on the streets of Seattle and around ten minutes at NYFW. True enough. And this is why most street style bloggers who shoot fashion weeks stock up on their images for months at a time. That's why Vanessa Jackman and Mr. Newton are still showing shots from Paris in October and Tommy Ton is still mixing up his recent NYFW shots with ones from Milan, Paris, and London from the Spring 2013 fashion weeks. It is entirely possible as a street style blogger to post only shots from fashion week year round, and many bloggers do. And that's why, in the street style blogosphere, fashion week is never really over. Each fashion week fills the daily fashion consumption needs of millions of hungry blog readers for months at a time. So I hope you're hungry. My best shots are still to come.

NYFW Relevation #4: Fashion Week is Never Over

thanks, Emily!
DeleteI've never been able to get to NY for Fashion Week, but I get my fix looking at bloggers' photos. You got some very cool shots - love the guy in the green (cordoroy?) suit. When I visit places like NY and even Toronto I can usually get a couple of weeks worth of blog posts in a day. Here in London, Ontario, I can spend days trying to find one blog worthy photo, which is why I started adding my own outfits.
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding my blog to your list of street style blogs from around the world. It's nice to see Toronto Verve and I representing Canadian Street style.
Happy to give props to the Canadian street style bloggers. Let me know if you know of any others I should add.
DeleteCan't wait to see more....the colour fiend in me loves the maximum amount of contrast and prints and accessories.
ReplyDeleteThanks! More coming.
DeleteAnd that is why so many Street style blogs are so boring! Get back to the Philly shots.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. Philly shots coming soon.
